About Karyne

My journey began with braids, but it didn’t stop at the chair.

Karyne Tinord founded Kay de Trés and is the creative force behind Cornrows & Cornbread, a cultural concept that blends hair artistry, heritage, and hospitality into immersive retail and community experiences. Her work explores how everyday rituals—grooming, gathering, feeding, creating—hold deep cultural meaning and economic power.

With a background in business administration and years of experience across beauty, retail, nonprofit leadership, and arts programming, Karyne curates spaces and experiences that are both emotionally resonant and operationally sound.

She has worked with youth entrepreneurs, artists, brands, and institutions to help ideas grow into sustainable ventures. Whether she’s curating a pop-up, moderating a conversation, or baking cornbread for a room full of creatives, Karyne’s approach remains the same: intentional, human-centered, and rooted in care.

Guiding principle: If you have to force it, toss it.
